How do you get to Hotel Higgins Landing?

While feeling remote, Stocking Island is not isolated. Flying time from Nassau to Georgetown is only 30 minutes; from Fort Lauderdale or Miami, only 1 1/2 hours.  Guests can fly direct from Nassau, Fort Lauderdale or Miami.

Hotel Higgins Landing arranges for guests to be greeted at the airport by a taxi driver who will bring you into Georgetown where the hotel boat will be waiting to carry you to Stocking Island; a pleasant 15 minute boat trip across Elizabeth Harbor. The taxi ride from the airport to Georgetown is approximately 20 minutes, cost around $25.

What should we bring?

Dress at the hotel is always casual and comfortable.  Swimsuits, shorts, t-shirts...leave the high heels at home. Sandals such as Tevas, Keens or Crocs are great for hiking, wading and exploring.  All cottages have hairdryers and beach towels, satellite radios.

How do we get groceries and supplies for our cottage?

When you arrive in Georgetown, we will take your luggage to the boat and wait for you while you shop for any breakfast and lunch items that you may wish.   Also during your stay, we can take you back to town for additional shopping or lunch, etc.   In addition, by prior arrangement, if you wish we can shop and pre-stock your cottage prior to your arrival.

Is a simple beach wedding possible ?

Yes, we have had several  weddings at the resort; under the palm trees; on the beach; or at sunset overlooking the harbor.  Contact us to discuss your wish.

Can I smoke on my deck or on the beach?

No. Hotel Higgins Landing is a "smoke free" zone.  No smoking is allowed on any of the hotel premises.

Do you offer a separate vegetarian menu option?

No. In order to focus on quality and preparation of the evening meal, a fixed menu is featured.  Although there are no selections, the courses vary each evening and feature local seafood and superb meats and poultry and are always accompanied with an abundance of fresh vegetables.  Vegetarians and those with special dietary needs should take this into consideration and contact us prior to making a reservation if this is a concern.

Can we go to Georgetown in the evening?

The hotel does not offer evening transportation to Georgetown. Following the candlelit dinner each evening most guests prefer to sit on their decks and enjoy the starlit sky and quiet.  

Can I rent a boat and keep it at the hotel dock during my stay?

Yes, Minns Watersports rents boats in Georgetown and will allow them to be kept at the hotel during your stay.  The hotel has dock space and a well marked channel with range to guide you safely to the dock.
